Eastern Ontario Leadership Council (EOLC) – Economic development

Formally launched in 2015, the Eastern Ontario Leadership Council (EOLC) brings together five regionally-minded organizations to address shared issues that influence the economic success and prosperity of eastern Ontario. Today, the EOLC has developed into a partnership between the Eastern Ontario Wardens’ Caucus, the Eastern Ontario Mayors’ Caucus, the Eastern Ontario Regional Network, the Ontario East Economic Development Commission, and Community Futures Eastern Ontario. The EOLC’s mandate is to implement the regional Economic Development Strategy and focuses on the themes of:

  • Workforce development and deployment
  • Integrated intelligent transportation systems
  • Technology integration and innovation
  • Digital infrastructure

Through working groups, the EOLC also serves as a conduit for information and policy positions with various stakeholders, including the Province of Ontario; tracks and reports on the performance of the eastern Ontario economy, as it relates to the priorities of the Economic Development Strategy; undertakes advocacy on key issues; and identifies resources and provides recommendations on funding opportunities.
