EOWC Support of Canadian and Ontario Governments’ Negotiations with the United States Government on Trade Tariffs
On February 10, 2025, the EOWC held a special meeting to pass the resolution: EOWC Support of Canadian and Ontario Governments’ Negotiations with the United States Government on Trade Tariffs.
We stand together with our governments partners and support the measures they have put in-place.
To support municipalities as part of the Team Canada approach, the EOWC recommends that our Federal and Ontario government partners:
- Continue to ensure municipal governments are part of the coordinated approach and leverage local expertise and relationships
- Invest in infrastructure and housing to stimulate and stabilize Canada’s economy and create jobs
- Eliminate trade and legislative barriers to ensure municipalities can buy local
- Remove any impediments to ensure municipalities can give preference to Canadian companies in capital projects and for other supplies
